March 28-29, 2007 - Intercontinental Hotel, Kabul

Organizers: The Killid Group and IPS-Inter Press Service

Methods:

The conference would be an opportunity to discuss and critique the developments of the past years for recommending measures for assisting media and civil society groups in the continuing transition.

The Forum will combine structured, thematic sessions with discussion between Afghan media professionals, civil society actors, government and donor representatives.

All the discussions would be open for coverage to Afghan and foreign journalists.

Around 15 foreign/regional media development professionals and journalists are to be invited to the Forum. They would share their experiences and provide inputs in the discussions that would be attended by around 60 media and civil society actors from Afghanistan , government officials and Kabul-based donor representatives.

The “Media is Development: Afghanistan's Media and Civil Society Forum” would also be an opportunity for donors to showcase their activities in Afghanistan and also provide an opportunity for building networks with media and civil society groups for coordinated, complementary actions they could undertake in the future.
